Method: Block Printing
Fabric: Thrifted Linen Table Cloth
Pattern: Marianne Dress By Christine Haynes
I love my new dress! This yellow fabric started out as a thrifted linen table cloth, it's incredible quality and I knew I wanted to block print and sew a summer dress. I used my hand carved snake plant block to print an all over pattern, just eyeballing it. I had already sewn a Marianne Dress with a woven yoke (post here with tutorial) and some extra fullness in the knit version and thought I'd try a full woven version. Success! It fits great and is just the summer dress I was envisioning.
Above you can see the scalloped rolled hem from the table cloth that I kept. It has a subtle embroidered border all the way around. I could pair this with my snake plant clutch, too much?
Extra sewing details: French seams, jersey bias binding, absolutely zero pattern matching.
